Q: How can I be guaranteed my gift will be used as intended?
A: All FWP gifts are put in a specific fund (account) at the Community Foundation, designated for that purpose only.
Q: Is it an added expense and costing FWP more to “hire” the Community Foundation to serve in this capacity?
a. Partnering with the Community Foundation actually reduces the initial and on-going expense and time it would take for Friends of Whitehall Park to establish, run and manage a separate 501c3.
b. Provides access to administrative services, on-line gift/credit card processing at no cost, acceptance and handling of wide range of gift types (stock, IRA), multi-state solicitation registration, legal cost savings to assure FWP complies with IRS regulations and not requirements to file federal and state tax returns. All done through the Community Foundation’s filings.

IRA Distributions
The Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA) permitted individuals to roll over up to $100,000 from an
individual retirement account (IRA) directly to a qualifying charity without recognizing the assets transferred
to the qualifying charity as income. IRA owners must be age 70 1/2 or older to make a tax-free charitable
contribution. Those who meet the age requirement can transfer up to $100,000 per year directly to an
eligible charity without paying income tax on the transaction
